Beef Steak with Vegetables


Ingredients:

  • 2 beef steaks (about 300 g each)

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 2 large carrots, sliced

  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and cut into pieces

  • 2 celery stalks, sliced

  • 2 large onions, sliced into rings

  • 3 garlic cloves, chopped

  • 200 ml beef broth

  • 200 ml red wine (optional)

  • 2 tbsp tomato paste

  • 1 tsp dried thyme

  • 1 tsp dried rosemary

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Fresh parsley for garnish


Preparation:

1. Preparation:

  • Season the beef steaks with salt and pepper.

  • Prepare all vegetables: slice carrots, potatoes, celery, onions, and chop garlic.

2. Sear the beef steaks:

  • Heat olive oil in the cast iron pot over medium-high heat.

  • Sear the steaks on both sides until golden brown, about 3–4 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.

3. Cook the vegetables:

  • In the same pot, sauté the onions until translucent, about 3–4 minutes.

  • Add garlic and cook for another 1–2 minutes until fragrant.

  • Add carrots, potatoes, and celery and sauté for 5–7 minutes until lightly browned.

4. Make the sauce:

  • Stir in tomato paste and mix well.

  • Pour in beef broth and red wine (if using), and stir to combine.

  • Add thyme, rosemary, salt, and pepper.

5. Add steak and simmer:

  • Place the seared steaks back into the pot on top of the vegetables.

  • Reduce heat, cover, and let simmer for 25–30 minutes until the vegetables are tender and the meat is soft.

6. Serve:

  • Garnish with fresh parsley.

  • Serve hot with bread or a side salad.
