Today we’re showing you how to prepare irresistibly sweet and savory cola-braised pork in a cast iron pot. This recipe is simple, delicious, and perfect for a cozy dinner. The cast iron pot ensures even heat distribution and gives the dish a special depth of flavor. Let’s get started!

Cola Pork

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg pork shoulder or pork neck

  • 2 tbsp oil

  • 2 large onions, roughly chopped

  • 3 garlic cloves, chopped

  • 1 can (330 ml) cola

  • 200 ml BBQ sauce

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tsp paprika powder

  • 1 tsp mustard powder

  • Salt and pepper to taste


Preparation:

1. Preparation:

  • Cut the pork shoulder or neck into large chunks and season with salt and pepper.

  • Prepare all ingredients and preheat your cast iron pot on the stove.

2. Sear the meat:

  • Heat oil in the cast iron pot over medium-high heat.

  • Brown the meat on all sides until golden. Remove and set aside.

3. Prepare the aromatics:

  • In the same pot, sauté the onions until lightly browned, about 5–7 minutes.

  • Add garlic and cook for another 1–2 minutes until fragrant.

4. Make the sauce:

  • Add cola, BBQ sauce, soy sauce, paprika powder, and mustard powder. Stir well.

5. Add meat and simmer:

  • Return the seared meat to the pot.

  • Reduce heat, cover, and let it simmer for 2–3 hours until the meat is tender and the sauce has thickened.

6. Serve:

  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  • Serve hot with rice, potatoes, or fresh bread.

This dish often tastes even better the next day as the flavors deepen. Simply reheat and enjoy!
